NBC aired "Knight Rider" for four seasons beginning in 1982. David Hasselhoff became an international star because of the show, as did the KITT, the show's first car.

As Michael Knight, Hasselhoff's persona battled crime in KITT, the Knight Rider Trans Am. In the episode, KITT was equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) and was able to communicate. Knight Industries Two Thousand is KITT's full name. However, among fans of the show, the car is referred to as the KITT.
